Authorities Talk About Treating a Child Who Shot His Teacher

In the American state of Virginia, a six-year-old student shot his teacher last week. On Monday, Newport News, Virginia police chief Steve Drew informed reporters that there had been no altercation, no physical altercation, and no warning. Today, we are aware that she was giving guidance. Drew stated, “He brandished a gun, pointed it, and fired one round.” The police chief claimed the teacher, 25-year-old Abby Zwerner, put her hand up to defend herself. The bullet entered her upper chest through her hand. At first, her injuries were considered potentially fatal. However, since then, her health has improved, and she is now in a hospital with stable conditions.

Drew added that the youngster was shooting with a 9mm handgun. His mother had lawfully acquired the rifle, which was in the family’s residence. He claimed that on the day of the shooting, the youngster had carried it to school in his backpack. After Zwerner was shot, Drew commended her for getting her children out of the classroom as soon as possible. She was the last person to leave her classroom, according to a video that was shot at the school, he said. “She turned around [to] make sure every single one of those students was safe,” added Drew. Hearing the gunshot, a school official entered the classroom and put the boy in restraint. Drew claimed that the youngster hit the worker after getting “a little combative.”

When police came, they took him to a hospital while filing an emergency lawsuit. What happens with the boy after that will be decided by a judge. The boy’s mother has spoken with police as well. It is unknown if she will be prosecuted. Bartley told The Associated Press that many questions remain unresolved. “How did he get the gun?” was one of them. Why hadn’t it been secured? Any responsible gun owner knows to lock up their weapon. Your safety is activated. The ammunition and the actual weapon are kept apart.
