The 6th Digital China Summit concluded on Friday in Fuzhou, Fujian province. Officials and experts stated that China will increase its efforts to progress the building of the 5G network, broaden the use of 5G technology in many industries, and encourage the research and development of 6G. “China has used cutting-edge technologies to construct the biggest 5G network in the world. By the end of March of this year, there were more than 2.64 million 5G base stations throughout the nation, according to Zhao Ce, deputy chairman of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s information and telecommunications development department.
According to Zhao, the ministry will work harder to support the orderly construction of the 5G network, speed up its industrial uses, advance 6G research and development, and improve international collaboration on 5G-related standards, technology, and applications. According to him, 52 out of the 97 main economic categories have made use of the incredibly fast 5G wireless technology, with large-scale applications also extending to ports, mining, and electricity. Furthermore, China has already created the IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group, which serves as a flagship platform for the country’s promotion of 6G and global collaboration.
Zhang Wang, deputy head of the informatization development bureau of the Cyberspace Administration of China, stated that more efforts should be made to explore 5G application scenarios and support the transformation of traditional industries, as 5G technology is a critical foundation supporting the development of artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing. Recently, China unveiled a plan outlining the general framework for the nation’s digital development. By 2025, the country hopes to have made significant strides toward building a digital China, complete with effectively interconnected digital infrastructure, a vastly improved digital economy, and ground-breaking advances in digital technology innovation.
