According to a global innovation report, China led the world in 2023 both in terms of quantity and quality of technological innovations in the areas of life and health, biopharmaceuticals, new energy and low-carbon technologies, new materials, advanced manufacturing, and digital intelligence. According to the Boao Forum for Asia Innovation Report, which was unveiled in Guangzhou, the provincial capital of Guangdong, on Wednesday, China’s patent application volume has taken the lead globally, particularly in fields like large-scale modeling technology, artificial intelligence pharmaceuticals, and smart energy. With an emphasis on the global development of cutting-edge technologies, the paper examined global trends and obstacles in technological innovation in 2023.
According to Li Baodong, secretary-general of the Boao Forum for Asia, “China attaches great importance to technological innovation by implementing a series of policy measures to form a comprehensive policy framework.” According to Li, the policies have improved the strategic deployment of technological innovation throughout the nation. These policies include raising government investment in R&D, encouraging the industrial transformation of scientific and technological achievements, bolstering intellectual property protection, and luring talent in scientific and technological innovation “A new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is deepening and profoundly reshaping the global innovation landscape, with the rapid development of AI technology and the increasing digitization and intelligence changing people’s lives and work in numerous ways,” Li added.
According to the paper, artificial intelligence (AI) is a strategic core technology that has the potential to play a major role in the global economic transformation. It has applications in a number of industries, including transportation, intelligent manufacturing, medical services, and agriculture. The vice president of South China University of Technology, Xu Xiangmin, made the observation that AI empowers health. “The key to proactive health is the transformative shift toward data-driven healthcare models,” Xu stated. According to Xu, the Guangzhou-based institution has pioneered intelligent wearable gadgets after more than ten years of research and development. These devices range from flexible sensors to sensitive novel materials, enabling comprehensive and multidimensional observation of human body data.
