Israeli mother who was assassinated refers to Hamas videos as “psychological warfare.”

“Psychological warfare” is how the mother of an Israeli prisoner who was unintentionally killed by Israeli soldiers in Gaza has characterized the hostage tapes that Hamas has broadcast. According to Iris Haim, recent footage of hostages who appeared to be dead was meant to “try and make us weak” by inciting Israelis against their country. The remains of two hostages, Yossi Sharabi and Itay Svirsky, appear to be visible in a video that Hamas posted on January 15. The Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum and Kibbutz Be’eri announced the men’s deaths in a statement on Tuesday night.

It demanded their repatriation and stated that Hamas was still holding their bodies. On October 7, Eli, the brother of Yossi Sharabi, was also abducted and is still in captivity. Hamas killed Eli’s British-Israeli wife Lianne and their daughters Yahel and Noiya Sharabi. While Itai Svirsky was visiting his parents at the kibbutz, both of them perished in the attack. According to Hamas, the two were murdered by airstrikes. However, Israeli forensic authorities claim that post-mortems on the remains do not substantiate the group’s claim that airstrikes are to blame for the deaths of the other hostages.

A third hostage, Noa Argamani, provided the narration for the video. We don’t know what happened to her. On December 15, Yotam, the son of Mrs. Haim, was slain together with two other Israeli prisoners, Alon Shamriz and Samer Talalka. On October 7, during Hamas’s invasion on Israel, all three were taken prisoner by the group’s militants, who also massacred almost 1,300 people, the majority of them civilians. Since then, the Israeli shelling of Gaza has claimed the lives of over 24,000 Gazans, the majority of whom were women and children, according to the health ministry operated by Hamas. Over nine thousand of those slain, according to Israel, were Hamas fighters.
