Chinese Premier requests feedback on a proposed government work report

Chinese Premier Li Qiang chaired a seminar on Tuesday where he sought input on a draft government work report from businesses, specialists in many professions, and representatives of several sectors, including education, science, sports, culture, and health. Ding Xuexiang, vice premier, was also present. In order to advance high-quality growth, China has, according to Li, weathered external pressure and surmounted internal challenges over the last year. He stated that there has been no change in the basic trend of China’s economic recovery and long-term good outlook, and he called for greater bravery and confidence to overcome obstacles.

This year, the premier emphasized the importance of improving macroeconomic regulation and control, stepping up proactive fiscal policy and its effectiveness, fortifying the consistency of macroeconomic policy orientation, and making sure prudent monetary policy is flexible, moderate, precise, and effective in order to promote economic and social development. Li also urged actions to create a world-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized; to promote reform and opening-up; to hasten the creation of a unified national market; to cultivate new engines of economic growth while addressing the diverse needs of the populace.
