Actor Jacob Elordi of Saltburn is charged with choking a reporter

A radio reporter has accused Saltburn actor Jacob Elordi of grabbing him by the throat during an attempted practical joke gone wrong. Rumors that the 26-year-old actor was in Sydney led Joshua Fox of Australian radio station KIIS FM to hunt him down to a pub. However, Mr. Fox asserted that, in allusion to a well-known Saltburn scene, Mr. Elordi reacted violently when he requested him to fill an empty container with the bathwater. According to New South Wales police, they are looking into a reported assault. Mr. Elordi, an Australian native hailing from Brisbane, was sighted on Saturday in the beer garden of the seaside Clovelly Hotel in southeast Sydney.

Mr. Fox claimed to have approached the actor outside the building while appearing on the Kyle and Jackie O Breakfast Show. Mr. Elordi is heard requesting not to be filmed in a recording made public by KIIS FM. Mr. Fox informed hosts Jackie Henderson and Kyle Sandilands that he had decided to go “because the joke didn’t land,” but Mr. Elordi became “right in my face” and insisted that he remove all of the video. The radio producer said that he declined because he was “intimidated” and wanted to keep the tape as proof of the purported altercation. Mr. Fox claimed that the actor “[flipped]… he pushes me against the wall and his hands are on my throat” after this.

Police told BBC Newsbeat that they were looking into a report of a 26-year-old guy assaulting a 32-year-old man. Officers stated that the older male was not hurt during the altercation. Mr. Elordi, who immigrated to the US just before securing a breakthrough part as Nate in HBO’s Euphoria, has emerged as one of Hollywood’s most desirable young talents. For his roles in the movies Saltburn and Priscilla, he has received award nominations. His reps were contacted by BBC Newsbeat to provide a statement. Joshua Fox is English, but since 2022, he has worked in Australia on the Kyle and Jackie O show. For comments, Newsbeat has reached out to ARN, the company that runs Kiis FM, and iHeartRadio.
