Chief Military Officer of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi is fired by Zelensky

The president of Ukraine removed Valerii Zaluzhnyi from his position as head of state security. It comes after rumors circulated that the president and Gen. Zaluzhnyi, who has overseen Ukraine’s military campaign since the start of the conflict, were at odds. Hardened by battle By presidential decree, Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi was named as his replacement. When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he oversaw the defense of the country’s capital, Kyiv.
