England Test series will be interrupted by an India batter

For personal reasons, India batsman Virat Kohli will miss the remainder of the Test series against England. Earlier, the 35-year-old former skipper pulled out of the first two Test matches. On Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Kohli will miss the final three Test matches as well. The BCCI said in a statement that “Virat Kohli will remain unavailable for selection for the remainder of the series due to personal reasons.” “The board fully respects and supports Mr Kohli’s decision.” The board had stated that “certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention” when he missed the first two Tests.

With 8,848 runs scored, Kohli, who has participated in 113 Test matches for India, is ranked fourth among all-time top scorers. With three games remaining, the series is tied at one. The 17-man team selected for the rest of the series did not include batsman Shreyas Iyer, who participated in the first two Tests. After participating in the first Test, both batsman KL Rahul and spinner Ravindra Jadeja have rejoined the team, but their participation is “subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team”, the board stated. Additionally, uncapped seamer Akash Deep is called up.
