Thomas Kingston: Royals lament son-in-law of Prince Michael of Kent

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the death of Thomas Kingston, 45, the husband of Lady Gabriella Kingston and the son-in-law of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Emergency services were called to the Gloucestershire address on Sunday night after discovering him dead. There were no other parties engaged, nor were there any suspicious circumstances. His family received “most heartfelt thoughts and prayers” from King Charles and Queen Camilla. In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Mr. Kingston’s widow Lady Gabriella and his family paid tribute to him, saying, “Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him.”

 

There was a “great shock to the whole family” following the death. There will be an inquest. Lady Gabriella is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Prince Michael, who is 81 years old, is a first cousin to the late Queen Elizabeth II and the grandson of King George V.According to a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace, King Charles and Queen Camilla are “joining Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family”. In 2019, Mr. Kingston, a director at the private equity firm Devonport Capital, wed Lady Gabriella in Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel. Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and Prince Harry attended the wedding.

 

He had previously been employed by the Foreign Office’s Diplomatic Missions Unit in the capital city of Iraq, Baghdad, where he helped to secure the release of hostages. In addition to being a writer, contributing editor, and singer-songwriter, his spouse Lady Gabriella has expertise as an arts and tourism director. Although Lady Gabriella is not a working member of the Royal Family, the Royal Family is providing for her and Mr. Kingston’s family at this time.
