US singer Cat Janice, who rose to stardom on TikTok, passed away at the age of 31 from cancer. In March 2022, Janice—who wrote the song “Dance You Outta My Head”—was diagnosed with sarcoma, an uncommon soft tissue or bone cancer. She was in hospice care at the time of her release. During her treatment, she disclosed that she had given her seven-year-old son, Loren, the rights to her music.
They were “eternally thankful for the outpouring of love” that her family expressed to them. “Cat saw her music go places she never expected and rests in the peace of knowing that she will continue to provide for her son through music,” they stated. “This would not have been possible without all of you.” 57 million people have watched her music video online. Real name Catherine Ipsan, Janice began creating and producing music in her teens and releasing it in her 20s.
After receiving a diagnosis, she updated her social media fans on her medical progress. After undergoing radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery, Janice was declared cancer-free four months later. However, the illness returned to her lungs in June 2023.
