One more day, one more outrage. In the desolate, dystopian wasteland that is Gaza, such is the ultimate fate of the Palestinian people. It is unavoidable because Israel’s army of unrepentant enablers and apologists has always viewed Palestinians as expendable human fodder, regardless of the scope, character, or style of the atrocities. Of course, they are working diligently, as they have been trained to do, to come up with a justification, an explanation, or a reason to free Israel from accountability for the crimes against humanity it has committed in Gaza and elsewhere with impunity.
According to their narrow-minded calculations, Israel is never guilty, never at fault, never the culprit. Admitting that Israel is guilty, at fault, the offender, or otherwise implicated would be tantamount to acknowledging their own culpability. The usual suspects in the usual capitals and newsrooms are using their usual toolkit of falsehoods, distortions, and obfuscations on cue to deny or obfuscate the obvious. Their involvement must necessarily extend beyond blindness. What the rest of us can see, they refuse to see. The truth and common decency are subordinated to their fervent loyalty to Israel. It has consistently. It will always do so.
This now-familiar charade is unfolding in the horrifying aftermath of a slaughter in which over a hundred Palestinians, driven from their homes by a fanatical regime determined to kill them swiftly or gradually, rushed relief trucks bearing the necessities of life. This time, the atrocity occurred on al-Rashid Street, where thousands of Palestinians without homes had assembled in the open during the night on the southwest edges of what’s left of Gaza City. chilly. Feeling sick. Feeling peckish. famished. It was neither a “chaotic scene” nor a “incident” that took place there at that particular moment. Rather, it was more deadly proof of the genocide being carried out with planned and malicious efficiency by a merciless occupying force against a helpless and imprisoned people.
