Expert praises China’s international endeavors

International relations analyst Keith Bennett stated that while most people throughout the world support China’s three main worldwide goals on development, security, and civilization, the West needs to learn more about them. “China is laying out its vision of the world in a step-by-step fashion, not only what it sees as it is, but what it believes the world ought to be, and what kind of world mankind ought to be striving for,” Bennett said, speaking about the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative. Bennett is a co-editor of the Friends of Socialist China online platform.

The annual meetings of the National People’s Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, he continued, offer the West a valuable window through which to observe China’s internal policies and its foreign policy objectives. The CPPCC and NPC deputies attend the sessions as representatives of many backgrounds, and the government report is the outcome of extensive consultations and lengthy discussions. “Many Westerners claim that China is unpredictable. However, Bennett, who has visited China more than 200 times and studied Chinese history and politics at the University of London in the late 1970s, claimed that China really presents its policies, ideas, and initiatives quite clearly.

Bennett is also a longtime member of the Society for Anglo-Chinese Understanding, which was established in 1965 to foster mutual understanding and friendship between the British and Chinese people. “I think whether people support China, or they don’t support China, they actually should understand China first,” Bennett stated. According to Bennett, the three programs present China’s knowledge and experience that may be applied to address contemporary global issues, such as how to promote development in poor nations and settle disputes in the Middle East.
