The team of media mogul Robert Murdoch has declared that he is engaged to his girlfriend. According to reports, the 92-year-old has been seeing 67-year-old retired Russian molecular researcher Elena Zhukova for a few months. This year, Mr. Murdoch’s fifth but sixth engagement will likely culminate in marriage at his Moraga vineyard and estate in California.
Last year, he announced his resignation as Fox and News Corp.’s chairman. The wedding is scheduled for June, and invitations have already been sent out, according to the New York Times, which first reported on the news.
The Chinese-born businesswoman Wendi Deng, one of his ex-wives, is reported to have thrown a party where the two first connected. The other women who were married to Mr. Murdoch were Ms. Deng, the Scottish-born journalist Anna Mann, the Australian flight attendant Patricia Booker, and the American actress and model Jerri Hall. Former Russian oil millionaire Alexander Zhukov was Ms. Zhukova’s previous husband, and their daughter Dasha, a socialite and businesswoman, was married to Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich until 2017. In the 1950s, Rupert Murdoch started his career in Australia. In 1969, he eventually acquired the UK’s News of the World and The Sun newspapers. Later on, he bought several US newspapers, such as the Wall Street Journal and New York Post.
He founded Fox News in 1996, which is currently the US’s most watched TV news network. Mr. Murdoch is still the proprietor of hundreds of local, national, and worldwide media businesses through News Corp, which was established in 2013. There had been controversy during his career. The infamous UK phone hacking incident that broke when it became apparent that the News of the World had listened to the voicemails of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler was one of his most disastrous moments. Mr. Murdoch declared in September that he was giving over his position as head of his media company to his son Lachlan and that he would eventually become Chairman Emeritus of News Corp. and Fox.
